Loss Of Experience

Stotts brought a wealth of experience with 13 years of head coaching under his belt, including stints with the Atlanta Hawks, Milwaukee Bucks, and the Portland Trail Blazers. This experience is invaluable, especially for a first-year head coach like Griffin. Apart from Joe Prunty, who had a brief interim head-coaching role with the Bucks in 2018, the rest of the coaching staff lacks this top-tier leadership experience.

The Bucks will be fine during the regular season, capitalizing on the talents of players like Lillard and Antetokounmpo to amass wins. However, their postseason prospects might be a bit murkier. The loss of Stotts, with his extensive playoff background and understanding of what it takes to excel at the highest level, leaves a void that won’t be easily filled.

Of course, Griffin, with 15 years of NBA assistant coaching and some playoff experience in that capacity, is more than capable of making in-game adjustments and steering the team toward long-term success. But there’s no denying that having someone who’s weathered multiple postseason battles is a different kind of advantage.
