Disappointing Packers: Tucker Kraft/Lukas Van Ness
It’s always a dangerous game to count on rookies for positive contributions, especially at the beginning of a season. Unfortunately, that’s the hand the Packers have been dealt and the realities of their situation.
Tight end is especially difficult to learn and the NFL often sees young players struggling to produce at the position. Tucker Kraft was selected in the third round, and the second tight end Green Bay grabbed in the draft. However, he hasn’t made any impact this season, struggling with his blocking and only accruing two receptions for five yards. Green Bay needs all hands on deck if they are going to right their offensive woes.
The Packers are taking the long road with Lukas Van Ness, hoping to develop him behind Rashan Gary and Preston Smith. Van Ness has received a lot of playing time early, but we haven’t seen the splashes we were hoping. He only has four hurries and one sack on the season, all coming in Week 1.
