Packers Rookie Power Rankings Heading into Bye Week
The Green Bay Packers have a deep and talented rookie class that we’ve been monitoring with rookie power rankings all season.
Although the pecking order has been mostly the same through the first five weeks, we’re beginning to see some more established trends from the players. However, it’s at this point, following the bye week, that fans would love to see some of these rookies step up and take their game to the next level.
Following the Packers’ second consecutive loss in Week 5, let’s check in on how the Packers’ Rookie Power Rankings stack up heading into their off-week.

Luke Musgrave temporarily lost his position at the top of the rankings last week, thanks to the emergence of Jayden Reed. However, he’s retaken his claim as the Packers’ best rookie following a six-catch and 34-yard performance. Although that doesn’t jump out at you, it was much better than Reed, who caught only one pass for seven yards.
Musgrave has been an adequate blocker this season, but was eaten up at times against Maxx Crosby. That’s more on the coaching staff than Musgrave, but it would be nice to see continued development in that area of his game.
Lukas Van Ness moves up one spot because he’s in the heart of the Packers’ rotation at outside linebacker. He played 26 snaps against the Raiders, behind Preston Smith (43), Rashan Gary (30), and Kingsley Enagbare (29). He wasn’t overly impressive in one particular area, but he had a solid all-around game.
Meanwhile, Dontayvion Wicks looks like he’s fallen to the outside of the Packers’ wide receiver rotation. With Christian Watson all the way back, Wicks only played 13 offensive snaps, by far his fewest of the season. He also only mustered one reception for 10 yards.
I also flip-flopped Ben Sims and Tucker Kraft. Kraft still out-snapped Sims 23 to 9, but Sims showed some life with a nice catch-and-run for 12 yards, creating separation from Marcus Peters after the catch. It was only one play, but that’s far more life than Kraft has shown in the passing game at any point since Green Bay drafted him.
