If Counsell decides not to return to the Brewers, the driving force behind his departure will be this squad in the Big Apple. The New York Mets, in an assertive move, have successfully secured their desired candidate in David Stearns, appointing him to spearhead their organization.

Stearns wasted no time in executing his vision, making one of his initial moves by relieving Buck Showalter of his managerial duties. With the managerial position now vacant, Stearns appears poised to aggressively pursue Counsell, showing a willingness to open up the checkbook to bring him on board. The Mets’ pursuit of Counsell could indeed be a compelling narrative to watch in the upcoming offseason.
