Packers’ Loser: Discipline

We knew there would be bumps and bruises for the Packers this season. That’s life for a team in the midst of a youth movement, as they transitioned from a future Hall of Fame Quarterback to a first-time starter.

However, we didn’t know it was going to be this rough. During LaFleur’s five-year tenure as the Packers’ head coach, they’ve generally been very disciplined and have avoided penalties. After averaging just over five penalties per game last season, it’s ballooned to 9 in 2023, ranking 31st in the NFL.

It gets worse. The Packers were penalized 11 times on Sunday for 90 yards, already marking the second time they’ve had nine or more penalties this season. Entering the season, that had only happened seven times under LaFleur’s watch. It could be a record-setting year for Green Bay, and not in a good way.
