Fact or Fiction: 5 Questions About the Green Bay Packers
The Packers Red Zone Offense is Back
During Matt LaFleur’s first two years as the Packers head coach, their red zone offense was the best in the NFL. They ranked second in touchdown percentage in 2019 (67.9 percent) and first in 2020 (76.8 percent). Then, they tanked toward the bottom, falling to 18th in 2021 (57.5 percent) and 23rd in 2022 (51.9 percent).
The good news is they’re off to a hot start in this department after their season-opening victory over the Bears, putting the ball into the endzone on all three of their attempts–one of only four teams to do so in Week 1 this year.
LaFleur showed off some more creative playcalling inside the 20, and the team did an excellent job executing the calls. With all of the speed this team has, it’s hard to imagine defenders consistently keeping them out of the endzone when they get this close. All signs are pointing upward at this time.
