Power Rankings for Packers Rookies After Season Opener
The Green Bay Packers relied heavily on their rookies in their Week 1 blowout of the Chicago Bears, a surprise to nobody who has been paying attention to the team throughout training camp and preseason.
Among the 16 rookies on their 53-man roster (all listed below), eight of them played at least 20 snaps, not counting their rookie punter and kicker. Those eight were Luke Musgrave (45), Jayden Reed (32), Malik Health (29), Dontyaivion Wicks (37), Carrington Valentine (20), Colby Wooden (36), Karl Brooks (29) and Lukas Van Ness (35).
I ranked their rookies after every game throughout the preseason and will carry that tradition over into the regular season (you can see the previous edition here). So, without further ado, let’s dive into the regular seasons’ first edition of the Packers Rookie Power Rankings.
Let’s rank all of the rookies on the Green Bay Packers following their massive victory over the Chicago Bears in the season opener.

Luke Musgrave: Musgrave only finished the game with three receptions, but one of them was a bomb that resulted in a 37-yard catch that saw Musgrave stumbling instead of waltzing into the endzone. Jordan Love and Musgrave barely missed on another would-be touchdown. It’s clear he’s going to be a massive part of the Packers’ game plan this season, locking in his spot at the top of these power rankings.
Colby Wooden: Wooden is one of the biggest risers this week, jumping from 9 to 5. The fourth-rounder was a significant part of the defensive line rotation, playing primarily in passing situations. During those 26 dropbacks by Justin Fields, Wooden generated four pressures.
Dontayvion Wicks: With Christian Watson out, Dontayvion Wicks moved up a notch in the pecking order and showed some impressive speed on the field. He didn’t test well in the combine but has a unique playmaking ability that could help Green Bay at some point this season.
Emanuel Wilson: Wilson was inactive on Sunday, with Green Bay choosing to promote Patrick Taylor from the practice squad for special teams reasons, but that might change next week. Aaron Jones went down with a hamstring injury in the third quarter, and his status for Week 2 is up in the air. Wilson is the better runner than Taylor and could be in line to serve as AJ Dillon’s backup until Jones is healthy. We still need to wait and see, but hamstrings can be a fickle beast.
