Packers Set to Shine: T.J. Slaton

Kenny Clark and the Packers have long been searching for a reliable partner to complement the two-time Pro Bowler and maximize his impact along the defensive front. At the start of the season, it seemed like 2022 first-rounder Devonte Wyatt was poised to fill that role, but it’s been TJ Slaton who has emerged as the frontrunner.

Slaton has secured the starting defensive line position over Wyatt, even in situations that demand just two linemen on the field, be it against the run or pass. This shift is significant, especially considering Slaton was initially viewed primarily as a run-stopping force.

This season, Slaton is set to anchor the nose tackle position, allowing Clark to transition to defensive end. While Slaton’s statistics may not necessarily jump off the stat sheet by season’s end, his influence will be palpable on every snap, causing a ripple effect that benefits his teammates.
