Will The Green Bay Packers Kick Off Season With A Hot Start?
The Green Bay Packers have one week to put the final touches on preparation for a new era in their franchise’s history. Thankfully, they’ll have a golden opportunity to kick it off in grand fashion.
With Aaron Rodgers traded to the New York Jets, the Packers are handing the keys to Jordan Love. Love has been impressive this preseason, making all of the right reads and showing command of the offense. That’s a great start, but he’ll have to prove he can do it when it counts.
Unlike when Rodgers took over from Brett Favre, Love doesn’t have a treasure trove of proven weapons. He’ll have to rely on a good offensive line and two solid running backs, while using the athleticism and potential of his receiving corps.
The Green Bay Packers have a golden opportunity to kick off the 2023 NFL season with a hot start thanks to a friendly schedule.
Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, Jayden Reed and Luke Musgrave have potential to usher in a successful new era of Packers’ football, but they are largely unproven entering the 2023 NFL season. The good news is the entire Packers’ team has a favorable schedule to begin the season.
Green Bay kicks off the new campaign with a contest against the Chicago Bears. The Bears only won three games last year and have a defense that will struggle to slow down opposing offenses. Don’t get me wrong, Justin Fields will challenge the Packers’ defense, but this is a great first contest for Love. He should be able to start the year on the right foot.
The Packers follow that up with a game against the Atlanta Falcons, owners of a 7-10 record in 2022. The Falcons are trying to reset their franchise, giving Green Bay another opportunity to rack up an early win.
After starting on the road for the first two games, the Packers host the New Orleans Saints and Detroit Lions in the next two games. Both teams are on the up, but will provide the Packers with a nice chance to measure their progress during the first month of the season. The Packers won’t play a 2022 playoff team until Week 8 when they face the Minnesota Vikings. That should allow them to get off to a hot start and build some confidence for the rest of the season.
That’s a great way for Love and this young Packers team to kick off a new era. They won’t face the stiffest of competition, instead, allowing themselves to ease their way into the season and earn some early moral victories.
