Every general manager loves his own draft picks above everything else. The same can be said for Green Bay Packers GM Brian Gutekunst, who kept 20 of his combined 24 draft picks from 2022 and 2023 on the team’s initial 53-man roster. The lone exceptions were either waived due to an injury or the team is working on securing them to their 16-man practice squad.
One of those draft picks who made the team is 2023 seventh-rounder Carrington Valentine. Valentine came out of nowhere during training camp and preseason to impress the coaching staff and catapult up the depth chart. He was so impressive that the Packers felt comfortable enough to only keep four cornerbacks on its initial roster (Eric Stokes will begin the season on the PUP and is eligible to return after Week 4).
These five players are flying under the radar with the Green Bay Packers and are some of the best-kept secrets in the NFL heading into the 2023 NFL season.
That’s a meteoric rise for a seventh-rounder, but it’s well-deserved. Valentine played well in two out of his three preseason games and made a play in seemingly every practice. It could be only a matter of time until he’s rolling with the starters.
Certainly, Valentine is one of the best-kept secrets on the Packers’ roster. Let’s check out four other guys who fall into this category.
