Who Will Start For the Packers At Center?

Josh Myers has been in the driver’s seat for the starting center position since his selection in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Yet, the Packers have grown increasingly dissatisfied with his lackluster performances.

The dilemma arises from the absence of a dedicated backup center on the roster to provide competition for Myers. The team has experimented with deploying Zach Tom in the center role, and in a surprising move, Jon Runyan took up second-team center duties during the preseason opener.

However, the Packers face a shortage of interior offensive line depth, a factor that makes the coaching staff cautious about reshuffling Runyan or any other lineman to fill the center role. Ultimately, the showdown for the starting center spot might boil down to a battle between Myers and Yosh Nijman. If Myers loses, Tom will start at center. If Nijman struggles, Tom will stay at right tackle.
