Packers With Most On The Line In Training Camp: Darnell Savage

Darnell Savage’s career has taken a troubling downturn. The former first-round draft pick, once a promising prospect seemingly hitting his stride on the football field, now finds himself in the midst of a multi-year slump, culminating in a disappointing performance last year.

Ironically, Savage currently holds the undisputed starter role at one safety position, even as a multi-player training camp competition unfolds alongside him. However, this owes more to the Packers’ lack of quality depth than any resounding showcase of Savage’s abilities.

With his impending unrestricted free agency after this season, Savage’s NFL future is at a pivotal juncture in 2023. Few situations carry higher stakes than this, underscoring the gravity of the moment.
