Keynan Middleton is worth renting for the rest of the season while Aaron Bummer can be another left-handed pitcher out of the pen.

The Milwaukee Brewers and trading for a relief pitcher at the deadline have become sort of a tradition. The team does have Aaron Ashby making his way back from the IL. Once he returns, Ashby is expected to work out of the bullpen.

This is still the Brewers. Trading for relief pitching has become such a ritual, it is like opening your presents on Christmas morning.

Middleton was nice find last offseason for the Sox. He is also set to be a free agent.

He does have an ERA over seven this month, but he has been rock-solid during the first three months of the season. He still has an ERA under 3.50 and a solid WHIP.

Also, he can fire the ball in there and is not afraid to be in high leverage situations. He has been tough on left-handed hitters as they have a batting average under .180.

The Milwaukee Brewers’ bullpen could use another lefty out of the pen.

Aaron Bummer has an ERA over six, but some of that is because of a poor defense backing him up. Also, his ERA is high due to a three games where he got blown up.

Otherwise, he has been solid out of the bullpen. He has only given up one run in his last five outings.

He can also pitch multiple innings and Bummer is tough on right-handed hitters with a .227 opposing average. Bummer just needs to do better against left-handed hitters.

Bummer is under team control for through 2026. He will make $5.5 million next season and then has two team options for just over $7 million in 2025 and 2026.
