Karl Brooks

  • Draft Status: Round 6, Pick 179
  • Relative Athletic Score (out of 10): 5.87
  • What He’s Playing For: Playing time on the defensive line and final roster spot. Green Bay lacks proven defensive linemen behind Kenny Clark, opening the door for Brooks to fight for the final roster spot and a place in the rotation.

Anders Carlson

  • Position: Kicker
  • College: Auburn
  • Draft Status: Round 6, 207
  • Relative Athletic Score (out of 10): N/A
  • What He’s Playing For: Starting kicker. There are no other kickers in camp this year, but Mason Crosby’s presence is still felt. He’s just one phone call away if Carlson falters.

Carrington Valentine

  • Position: Cornerback
  • College: Kentucky
  • Draft Status: Round 7, Pick 232
  • Relative Athletic Score (out of 10): 9.30
  • What He’s Playing For: Roster spot. The Packers will have an intense competition for the final roster spot at cornerback featuring Valentine, Corey Ballentine, Shemar Jean-Charls and Kiondre Thomas.

Lew Nichols III

  • Position: Running Back
  • College: Central Michigan
  • Draft Status: Round 7, Pick 235
  • Relative Athletic Score (out of 10): 7.83
  • What He’s Playing For: Practice squad spot. A.J. Dillon and Aaron Jones are roster locks, with Tyler Goodson and Patrick Taylor battling for the final roster spot. If Nichols is impressive enough, the Packers will open a spot on their practice squad for him.

Anthony Johnson Jr.

  • Position: Safety
  • College: Iowa State
  • Draft Status: Round 7, Pick 242
  • Relative Athletic Score (out of 10): 8.13
  • What He’s Playing For: Spot on the roster. The Packers are so weak at safety this year that anything can happen. If Johnson balls out, Green Bay won’t deny him a roster spot over career journeymen.

Grant DuBose

  • Position: Wide Receiver
  • College: Charlotte
  • Draft Status: Round 7, Pick 256
  • Relative Athletic Score (out of 10): 8.79
  • What He’s Playing For: Spot on the roster. DuBose missed time in OTAs and minicamp due to an injury and starts training camp on the NFI list. That’s not a good start. If he can’t return quickly, he’ll be playing for a practice squad job instead of a spot on the initial 53-man roster.
