Packers Final Roster Projection Before 2023 Training Camp
Outside Linebackers (6): Rashan Gary, Preston Smith, Lukas Van Ness, Justin Hollins, Kingsley Enagbare, Brenton Cox
The Packers have enough intriguing players at outside linebacker to warrant keeping six players. Assuming Rashan Gary returns before the season, this could suddenly be a deep and dynamic unit with the addition of first-round pick Lukas Van Ness and the emergence of Justin Hollins and Kingsley Enagbare.
Inside Linebackers (5): De’Vondre Campbell, Quay Walker, Isaiah McDuffie, Eric Wilson, Tariq Carpenter
Green Bay is pretty solid at inside linebacker, with De’Vondre Campbell and Quay Walker setting the tone at the top of the depth chart. Isaiah McDuffie, Eric Wilson and Tariq Carpenter are core special teamers who will have a limited defensive role unless an injury comes into play.
Cornerbacks (6): Jaire Alexander, Rasul Douglas, Eric Stokes, Keisean Nixon, Corey Ballentine, Carrington Valentine
The cornerback battle promises to be one of the most intense and intriguing aspects of their training camp. With Eric Stokes returning from injury, he’ll be hungry to secure a starting position, challenging the likes of Rasul Douglas and Keisean Nixon. However, the competition doesn’t end there, as a group of talented prospects, including Corey Ballentine, Carrington Valentine, Shemar Jean-Charles, and Kiondre Thomas, are all vying for the remaining cornerback spots on the roster.
On The Bubble: Shemar Jean-Charles
Safeties (5): Darnell Savage, Rudy Ford, Tarvarius Moore, Jonathan Owens, Dallin Leavitt
The most disappointing and underwhelming situation on the roster, this entire room is meh. There will be competition, but it won’t be the most exciting one.
Specialists (3): Anders Carlson (kicker), Pat O’Donnell (punter), Matt Orzech (long snapper)
Pat O’Donnell and Matt Orzech should have no issues winning their positional battles and earning a spot on the 53-man roster. Anders Carlson, however, will be worth watching. There isn’t another kicker in camp, but he’ll be battling the ghost of Mason Crosby in every practice. If the Packers don’t think he’s up for the task, Crosby is one phone call away.
