The moment we’ve all been waiting for is here – Green Bay Packers training camp is about to kick off on July 26. The offseason speculation and excitement can finally turn into reality!

But hold on, there’s still plenty of action to come during camp and preseason as teams work to finalize their initial 53-man rosters by August 29. This gives us a whole month to continue speculating and predicting what may unfold.

There’s no denying the intrigue and excitement surrounding the roster battles that will unfold on both sides of the ball. This training camp promises to be one of the most eventful in recent Packers’ history. So let’s take one last look at where the 53-man roster stands as we enter this critical stretch.

Here is the Green Bay Packers’ final roster projection before they kick off Training Camp on Wednesday, July 26th.

Quarterbacks (2): Jordan Love, Sean Clifford

The Packers have added Alex McGough to the mix, creating competition with Danny Etling at the bottom of the quarterback depth chart. However, it’s unlikely that this move will shake up the top positions, unless one of these guys has an exceptional performance during training camp. Even in such a scenario, the Packers have the flexibility to place Etling or McGough on their practice squad, making it a low-risk move for the team.

Running Backs (3): Aaron Jones, AJ Dillon, Tyler Goodson

Green Bay only kept two running backs on last year’s initial 53-man roster, placing Tyler Goodson and Patrick Taylor on the practice squad and exhausting their call-ups. However, Goodson’s performance has been impressive enough to tilt the scale in his favor, making a strong case for securing a spot on the active roster. Meanwhile, Patrick Taylor’s value as a special teams player could potentially be offset by other versatile players at different positions who can contribute in a similar capacity.

On The Bubble: Patrick Taylor

Tight Ends (4): Luke Musgrave, Josiah Deguara, Tucker Kraft, Tyler Davis

Despite all the unknowns at tight end, there are very few questions about which players will make the initial roster (barring an injury). This group is cut and dry and there’s no need for much discussion.

Wide Receivers (5): Romeo Doubs, Christian Watson, Samori Toure, Jayden Reed, Dontayvion Wicks

In contrast to tight ends, the wide receiver position could go in several different directions. The Packers could keep anywhere from five to seven players at this position. I opted with only five, as I believe they could slide two (Grant DuBose and Malik Heath) onto the practice squad. DuBose has been battling an injury that will keep him out for at least the beginning of training camp, while Heath is an unknown. Unless one of them balls out in preseason games, they should be able to play their cards close to the vest.
