The Green Bay Packers are peeking up and down their roster to find contributions from everywhere, as they enter a youth movement ahead of the 2023 NFL season. As some players rise, however, others must fall. Here are six Packers whose stock has fallen ahead of training camp.

Dontayvion Wicks

While Dontayvion Wicks, a fifth-round pick in this year’s draft, faced a setback during Organized Team Activities due to injury, his inclusion on this list is primarily due to the emergence of Malik Heath. As Heath impresses with his standout performances in OTAs and minicamp, the competition among wide receivers intensifies.

Heath’s unexpected rise has put other receivers on notice, creating a sense of urgency heading into training camp. As a result, players like Wicks must elevate their game to keep pace. Wicks brings his own strengths, particularly in his smooth route-running, but he now faces the challenge of catching up to the heightened competition around him. It will be intriguing to see how Wicks responds and whether he can make his mark during camp.

The Green Bay Packers are looking for some big contributions from unproven players across their roster, but these six players have seen their stock fall.

LaDarius Hamilton/Jonathan Garvin

As Paul Bretl expertly pointed out, the Packers’ outside linebacker group has become increasingly crowded with the emergence of Brenton Cox. Cox, a highly touted recruit in his college days, faced challenges with off-field issues that led to his dismissal from two prominent programs in Georgia and Florida.

If Cox can effectively address his off-field concerns and showcase his talent on the field, it could spell trouble for LaDarius Hamilton and Jonathan Garvin. With the presence of established players like Rashan Gary, Preston Smith, Lukas Van Ness, Kingsley Enagbare, and Justin Hollins, who appear to have secured spots on the initial 53-man roster, the number of outside linebackers Green Bay chooses to carry will determine the status of Hamilton and Garvin’s roles. Their positions could be in jeopardy based on the team’s roster decisions and the potential emergence of Cox.
