The Definites: Defensive Lineman and Safety

Irrespective of the outcomes of the current season, it’s evident the Packers will have significant needs at the defensive line and safety positions in the future.

Currently, Kenny Clark stands as the lone proven presence along the defensive line, while TJ Slaton and Devonte Wyatt are poised to assume more prominent roles this season. However, uncertainties abound behind them, as players such as Chris Slayton, Jonathan Ford, Kenneth Odumegwu, Antonio Moultrie, Karl Brooks, and Colby Wooden have yet to establish themselves at the NFL level.

The safety position represents an even more pressing need, even now. Darnell Savage and Rudy Ford, the projected starters, both have lingering question marks and are set to become unrestricted free agents after the season. The Packers currently face the possibility of having one of the weakest starting safety duos in the NFL, compounded by the potential loss of both players in the near future. This creates a substantial need that must be addressed for both the 2023 and 2024 seasons.
