The Green Bay Packers have several unproven players who project to play critical roles on special teams this season. We’ll touch on a couple of them and some other intriguing players fighting for spots at the bottom of the depth chart as we work our way to rankings 65 through 61.

We’ve covered the bottom third of the roster so far:

65. Matt Orzech, Long Snapper

Green Bay will have a new long-snapper on their roster this year, and all signs are pointing toward Matt Orzech. He will be battling Broughton Hatcher in training camp, but only one of them received a nice signing bonus and it wasn’t Hatcher. Orzech played with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2019 and the Los Angles Rams in 2021 and 2022, winning a Super Bowl.

The Green Bay Packers have several unproven players on special teams, as we move into spots 65 through 61 on our player rankings.

64. Sean Clifford, Quarterback

Sean Clifford’s spot on the depth chart as Jordan Love’s backup is probably secure. Green Bay only has one other quarterback on the roster–Danny Etling–and he’s already appeared on these rankings. Clifford was a surprise draft pick by the Packers this year, as he was thought to be a priority undrafted free agent for some team. He’s a very intelligent player but lacks the physical tools a quarterback needs in the NFL.

63. Grant DuBose, Wide Receiver

A seventh-round pick out of Charlotte in the year’s draft, Grant DuBose is already fighting an uphill battle. He missed Organized Team Activities due to an injury and needs to get on the field as soon as possible. The Packers have DuBose pegged as a potential Allen Lazard replacement. The two have a lot of similarities in their size and level of physicality. It took Lazard years to turn into the player he is today, and the same will be true for DuBose.

62. Kiondre Thomas, Cornerback

Kiondre Thomas will battle for the sixth and final cornerback spot on the Packers’ roster. His primary competition figures to be Carrington Valentine and Shemar Jean-Charles. Thomas was an undrafted free agent in 2021 who signed with Green Bay in January 2022.

61. Anders Carlson, Kicker

The Packers hope Anders Carlson is as good as special teams coordinator Rich Bisaccia believes he is. Carlson was drafted in the sixth round this year despite an inconsistent career at Auburn. There’s no questioning his leg strength; he can certainly boot the ball far. However, he has a lot of work to do with his accuracy. He was all over the place in college. He’s off to a good start after OTAs and Minicamp, but there’s a long way to go to prove himself.
