Milwaukee Bucks reportedly sign Omari Moore to two-way contract
As it goes, the Milwaukee Bucks weren’t done just because the 2023 NBA Draft finished on Thursday night. They got right to work trying to bring in more prospects, reportedly signing Omari Moore to a two-way deal.
Moore played for four years at San Diego State in the Mountain West Conference, averaging 11.2 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game. However, he took a leap every season and showed constant improvement. In his final season, he put up 17.4 points, 4.7 rebounds and 4.8 assists per contest.
He certainly fits the wing profile Milwaukee targeted in the draft. They selected Andre Jackson Jr. 36th overall (6-foot-6 with a 6-foot-10 wingspan) and Chris Livingston at 58 (6-foot-6 with a 6-foot-11 wingspan). Moore measured 6-foot-6 with a 6-foot-10 span.
Following the conclusion of the 2023 NBA Draft, the Milwaukee Bucks reportedly signed Omari Moore to a two-way contract.
Moore was signed to one of the Bucks’ two two-way spots for next season.
The Athletic’s Sam Vecenie ranked him as his 44th overall prospect, signaling a potential steal for Milwaukee. He described him as a “dribble-pass-shoot” type of player who NBA teams love due to his combination of size and length.
Moore still has work to do in the weight room to hang with NBA-caliber guys. The good news is he has the frame to support the right type of muscle development. That alone should go a long ways in helping him carve a niche at the next level.
Like most players selected at this part of the draft, his outside shot is a big question mark. He made 42.9 percent of his threes in 2021-22. However, when he nearly doubled his three-point attempts last season, that percentage plummeted to 33.8.
He’ll be an intriguing prospect to watch in Summer League and then with the Wisconsin Herd this season. It’s highly unlikely he finds himself playing in an NBA game any time soon, but it’s exciting to add another wing with an outside chance of cracking an NBA team someday.
