The Green Bay Packers have completed Organized Team Activities (OTAs) and minicamp and are heading their separate ways for the next six weeks before they return for training camp on July 21. We’ve learned a lot so far and have a long way to go before the season kicks off.

Fans weren’t allowed to attend OTAs or minicamp like in the past, forcing us to rely on media members to report what they saw. Thankfully, there are some of the best analysts covering the Packers, and they were able to give us a great inside look.

Using that information, five players are squarely on the roster bubble following minicamp.

These five players on the Green Bay Packers are squarely on the roster bubble following the completion of mandatory minicamp.

Danny Etling, Quarterback

The Packers traditionally keep only two quarterbacks on their active roster, but this isn’t a traditional year. With the transition to Jordan Love, Sean Clifford looks to have a nice lead as his primary backup. However, they’ve started a whopping one combined game and lack any experience at all. It’s not as if Danny Etling provides that experience, but he’d be another warm body on the roster. We’ll see if they keep three or stick with two.

Patrick Taylor, Running back

This will be a fascinating battle throughout training camp and into the preseason. Green Bay only kept two running backs a season ago–Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon–while moving Patrick Taylor and Tyler Goodson to the practice squad to begin the season.

Goodson appears to have a leg up on Taylor and could earn a spot on the initial roster. He’s a more explosive running weapon and can help in the passing game. Taylor is a staple on special teams and will try to demonstrate his value there.

Malik Heath, Wide receiver

It may be seen as a negative for others to be on this list, but it’s an excellent sign for Malik Heath. He came out of nowhere to put his name on the map and make a strong case for a spot on this team. Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, Samori Toure, Dontayvion Wicks and Jayden Reed are all locks for the team. If they keep a sixth at the position, Heath has already begun making his case.

Sean Rhyan, Offensive guard

The Packers’ third-round curse is real and more dangerous than ever. They cut Amari Rodgers last year, and Sean Rhyan is in danger of not even making it to his second year. He didn’t play a single offensive snap previous year despite being healthy and is buried on the depth chart. He’s shown very little ability to make an impact and is in the red zone.

Tyler Davis, Tight end

Green Bay is undergoing a changing of the guard at tight end. Robert Tonyan and Marcedes Lewis are gone, and Luke Musgrave and Tucker Kraft are here. Musgrave, Kraft and Josiah Deguara are locks for the position. If the Packers only keep three, Tyler Davis will be out of luck. However, if they roll with four, he’ll have another chance to prove he belongs in the NFL. He’s shown small flashes of talent, but has never been able to put it together.
