Takeaways from Packers’ minicamp: Rudy Ford starts at safety

Who knows what will happen with the Packers at safety? Indeed, not I.

Darnell Savage and Rudy Ford were the starters during the team practice portion, signaling where the team currently stands. Savage is coming off the worst season of his professional career and is in the final year of his contract. Ford started for Savage last year when he was benched and hopes to earn a full-time gig next to him this time around.

With Tarvarius Moore not practicing, Jonathan Owens was the team’s third safety. Moore, Owens, and Ford will battle for a starting safety spot all offseason–a fight Savage shouldn’t be excluded from. Meanwhile, the New York Jets signed former Packers’ safety Adrian Amos.
