Packers who need to right the ship: Darnell Savage

Savage is at a turning point in his career. He’s coming off his worst season, in which he ranked 87th among 88 qualified safeties, according to PFF, and is a lame-duck safety for Green Bay. He’s playing on a one-year deal with no certainties about his future.

Savage has been anointed as one of two starting safeties for Green Bay. That has more to do with the lack of any capable players on the Packers’ roster than Savage’s play. He’s been descending for a few years now and hit rock bottom last season. If he puts up another dud in 2023, he might find this as his final year playing professional football.
