3 players Milwaukee Bucks should consider with their only draft pick
By Todd Welter
Marquette’s Olivier-Maxence Prosper can continue his playing career in Milwaukee, only this time with the Bucks
The Milwaukee Bucks might not have to go far to find a replacement for PJ Tucker. The Bucks have not been able to adequately replace Tucker since he departed after the 2021 championship season.
He was the ideal three-and-D complimentary player for the Bucks’ big four of Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jrue Holiday, Middleton, and Lopez.
Olivier-Maxence Prosper could be a younger version of Tucker. Prosper was a glue guy at Marquette. He was a willing defender who could shoot the three and finish at the rim.
His stock has skyrocketed after an impressive NBA Draft Combine showing. His floor and ceiling appear to be a really good two-way player.
Not having a high ceiling is one reason he could be available late in the draft. Horst would be wise to select him if he is still on the board. He has the desired physical traits to be a lockdown defender in the NBA.
He is willing to chase the best player on the court, so his teammates do not have to exhaust so much energy to zap their offense. Prosper can also help on the offensive side, although he needs to improve his ball handling and not fall down when he tries to drive to the hoop. He could be a much cheaper option on the bench than re-signing Marquette alum Wesley Matthews.
He also has to decide by May 31st if he wants to stay in the draft or return to Marquette.
