Packers winners from Draft: Rudy Ford

The 2023 draft was notably weak at safety, failing to provide any quality prospect worthy of a first-round choice. Green Bay had their opportunity to select the top safety in the draft, Brian Branch, with a second-round pick, but decided to go in a different direction.

By only adding one safety in the entire class, seventh-rounder Anthony Johnson Jr., they basically ensured Rudy Ford a great chance at earning the starting gig opposite Darnell Savage. Ford’s primary competition figures to come from free agent signing Tarvarius Moore. Otherwise, there aren’t proven safeties on the roster who can play with the defense.
