Ranking Packers’ position groups following 2023 NFL Draft
14. Safety
Green Bay chose quantity over quality at safety. Adrian Amos remains a free agent, but it’s unlikely they’ll be able to bring him back, regardless of what Brian Gutekunst says. Darnell Savage enters the final year of his rookie contract as a lame-duck starter.
The rest of the depth chart doesn’t exactly inspire confidence either, as they are mostly special teams players. It was a weak draft class as the position, compounding the lack of an early draft pick to address this massive need. However, Anthony Johnson Jr. could end up being a steal.
On the roster: Darnell Savage, Rudy Ford, Tariq Carpenter, Anthony Johnson Jr., Tarvarius Moore, Dallin Leavitt, James Wiggins, Shemar Jean-Charles, Christian Morgan, Benny Sapp II
13. Long snapper
Basically, the entirety of the Packers’ special teams is up in the air. They have massive question marks at kicker and long-snapper. Jack Coco was solid last year, but there’s room for improvement. Will Matt Orzech be able to overtake him?
On the roster: Jack coco, Matt Orzech
