Once the NFL Draft comes to an end, it becomes a mad dash for the Green Bay Packers and the rest of the NFL to try and sign the undrafted rookies that they covet.

In general, with these players going undrafted, they have a low chance of making the 53-man roster, let alone becoming a contributor. So when deciding on who to sign, teams are either trying to round out their 90-man roster at positions that might be a little thin, while also looking for prospects that have some sort of elite trait that could improve their chances of sticking around in the long run.

With that said, the Packers have a strong tradition of undrafted rookies working their way onto the roster. Currently, there are five players on this Packers team who went undrafted, including Yosh Nijman, Patrick Taylor, and Jack Coco. This is way down from the 22 college UDFAs that Green Bay had on the team at this time one year ago.

Notable undrafted rookies over the years include Ryan Grant, Sam Shields, and John Kuhn, among many others.

The ceiling for many of these undrafted rookie signings in their first seasons will be the practice squad. The primary path to the 53-man roster usually goes through the special teams unit, although, unlike in previous years with the Packers, that has become more challenging with many of last season’s key contributors back on the team.

These reported signings will be coming in fast and furious. So be sure to bookmark this article to stay up to date with who the Packers are signing. Depending on how Day 3 of the draft unfolds, some positions that they could be adding to at this stage is wide receiver, interior defensive lineman, linebacker, quarterback, and kicker, to name a few.

Look for the Green Bay Packers to make anywhere from 10 to 15 signings as they continue to build their 90-man roster for the summer.
