Packers 4-round mock draft to give Jordan Love all the help
Now that the Green Bay Packers are officially handing the reigns over to Jordan Love, it’s time to get this man some help in the 2023 NFL Draft.
As it’s currently constructed, Green Bay’s roster is woefully understaffed to set a young quarterback up for success. They lack capable wide receivers outside of two second-year players and are even less talented at tight end. The only dependable skill positions are the running backs.
Thankfully, they have draft resources they can use to begin building the team around Love because lord knows they have work to do. Here’s a four-round mock draft focusing exclusively on getting Love help at the skill positions.
Here’s a four-round 2023 NFL mock draft for the Green Bay Packers to give Jordan Love all the help he needs and deserves.
Round 1, Pick 13: Jaxon Smith-Njigba, WR, Ohio State
This would be a dream scenario for Green Bay, who moved up to the 13th overall pick as part of the Rodgers’ trade (they may need to move up two more spots to actually draft Smith-Njigba). This gives them a better opportunity to select Jaxon Smith-Njigba if the Houston Texans pass on him. He’s the perfect complement to Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs, given his elite route-running and terrific hands.
Round 2, Pick 42: Jalin Hyatt, WR, Tennessee
The Packers go back-to-back at the wide receiver position, adding Hyatt out of Tennessee. Hyatt is strictly a slot receiver, meaning Smith-Njigba would have to expand his game in the NFL. He can stretch the field vertically or horizontally, something head coach Matt LaFleur loves. Suddenly, defenses would have multiple Packers receivers they must fear.
Round 2, Pick 45: Darnell Washington, TE, Georgia
Washington would give Green Bay a high-ceiling tight end to add to their team. At 6-foot-6 and 264 pounds, he’s a massive human being who uses his size to his advantage in both the passing and running games. He can block and catch. He also has excellent athleticism.
Round 3, Pick 78: Tucker Kraft, TE, North Dakota State
The Packers double up on tight end, just as they did on wide receiver earlier in the draft. Even if he isn’t as big as Washington, Kraft has tremendous size at 6-foot-5 and 254 pounds. He’s transitioning from North Dakota State in the FCS so he might need an extra year or two to get used to the NFL.
Round 4, Pick 116: Tank Bigsby, RB, Auburn
Green Bay is set at running back in 2023, but that will change quickly in the immediate future. Tank Bigsby is a big dude who is way more agile than what you’d expect for someone his size. Although he doesn’t have breakaway speed, he knows how to mix it up to keep defenses on his toes. Vision is his biggest weakness, something he can work on behind Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon.
