We all know a trade between the Green Bay Packers and New York Jets involving Aaron Rodgers will happen at some point. The only question is when and what the terms will be.

The two sides have been working on a deal for a while now, but have yet to come to an agreement. That could change based on the Jets’ new draft compensation.

New York agreed to send Elijah Moore and their third-round pick to the Cleveland Browns for their second-round pick (42nd overall). This gives New York the 13th, 42nd and 43rd overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. Based on that change, here are four different trade ideas the two sides could pursue.

Based on the newly acquired draft pick, here are four different trade ideas for the Green Bay Packers to send Aaron Rodgers to the New York Jets.

Okay, so this trade idea isn’t new. However, it could have new life considering New York now has two second-rounders instead of one. Shipping the 13th overall pick to Green Bay while still having two second-round picks to make up for it could be a way to soften the blow for the Jets. It’s also not like their picks are toward the back half of the second round, as they are the 10th and 11th selections in that round.

The Packers don’t get the coveted 13th overall pick in this deal, but they do get two good second-round selections from New York. According to most NFL Draft trade guides, these two picks combined are worth the equivalent of a middle-to-late round selection. Both the Jets and the Packers get a little of what they want–New York gets to keep their top pick, while Green Bay gets picks that add up to the value of a first-rounder.

This is a little different iteration than the trade idea above. Green Bay gets the 42nd and 43rd overall picks just the same, but the two sides swap the 13th and 15th overall picks. This gives Green Bay a little extra something to work with and allows New York to keep a top-15 pick in this year’s draft.

This scenario might be the most appealing for the Jets. They get Rodgers while completing a first-round pick swap with Green Bay, allowing them to keep a top-15 selection this year.

However, they send the 13th overall pick along with the 42nd pick in this year’s draft along with a 2024 conditional pick. In the above scenarios where they send both second-rounders, that would leave them without a pick from the first round until the fourth. This way, they still have a second-round selection, but also have to give up a future draft pick.
