The Badger State is the essential daily (Monday-Friday) newsletter about the state of Wisconsin sports, including updates about the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Bucks, and more.

The Badger State doesn’t feel like real life. Here are your daily updates about the Milwaukee Bucks, Green Bay Packers, Marquette Golden Eagles, and Wisconsin Badgers.

Packers Still Haven’t Traded Aaron Rodgers

There was no Aaron Rodgers’ trade news over the weekend, as he remains a member of the Packers. Green Bay doesn’t have an urgency to trade him at this point and can outwait the New York Jets until they receive the compensation they desire. I outlined three promising trade packages that could get the deal done.

Packers Free Agent News

There was movement in other parts of the Packers’ world. They signed free agent safety Tarvarius Moore from the San Francisco 49ers and re-signed safety Rudy Ford. Both players project to play special teams with an outside shot at earning playing time on defense. Dean Lowry also signed with the Minnesota Vikings.

Milwaukee Bucks’ Home Stretch

The Bucks only have 11 games remaining in their 2022-23 NBA season and are 2.5 games ahead of the Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers as the week begins. Milwaukee’s remaining schedule features games against the Denver Nuggets, Celtics, 76ers and Memphis Grizzlies, among a bunch of winnable contests. Here are seven big questions about their stretch run.

Marquette Eliminated

Marquette had a historic year, winning the Big East regular season championship and the Big East Tournament championship. They also snapped a 10-year NCAA tournament drought by winning their first-round game on Friday. Unfortunately, their amazing season has ended, as they lost to the Michigan St. Spartans on Sunday 60-69.

Three of their top four players–Oso Ighodaro, Kam Jones and Tyler Kolek–are sophomores and should return next season. Olivier-Maxence Prosper is also a junior, giving Marquette a great core to work with in 2023-24.

Badgers Advance To NIT Quarterfinals

Wisconsin, meanwhile, won their second game of the NIT and advanced to the quarterfinals. They took down Liberty 75-71 behind a career game from Chucky Hepburn. Hepburn scored a career-high 27 points on 9-for-20 shooting. The Badgers play Oregon on Tuesday.

Wisconsin Women’s Hockey Wins National Championship

The Wisconsin Women’s hockey team won their seventh NCAA Championship, defeating Ohio State 1-0. This gives them their third ship in the last five years and the first team to win seven National Championships.
