The Green Bay Packers don’t appear to be in any rush to work out an Aaron Rodgers trade with the New York Jets. Nor should they.

Green Bay waited patiently for about two months to find out Rodgers’ decision about the 2023 season. They shouldn’t move right away simply because he wants them to. The Packers need to work out the best possible deal for their franchise, including acquiring significant draft capital in a deal.

This trade is complex due to multiple factors: Rodgers’ age, his contract, and his dipping level of play. And despite all of that, Green Bay has the leverage. The four-time MVP came out and said he wants to play for the Jets next season and is just waiting for the deal to be done. New York fans and media are going crazy, waiting for the team to pull the trigger. If the Packers have their way, the deal will look something like the three trade proposals below.

Here are three promising trade proposals to break the stalemate between the Green Bay Packers and the New York Jets regarding Aaron Rodgers.

Packers’ trade proposal for Rodgers: Green Bay addresses a need one

Green Bay has several significant needs heading into the offseason and lacks the resources to address them all. Wide receiver, tight end, and safety are three of their biggest. They begin addressing receiver by acquiring Elijah Moore in this deal, reducing the urgency to select several players at the position in this year’s draft.

They still get the 43rd overall pick, giving them two second-rounders to work with. That will allow them to add another player who can impact their team right away in 2023. It’s not perfect from a Packers’ perspective, but it’s better than a single pick.
