As he’s done so often these last few years, Aaron Rodgers dodged certain questions, answered them in half-truths, and pushed his own narrative. He also finally gave fans some clarity on the current situation, confirming he wants to play football in 2023, but not as a member of the Green Bay Packers, but as a member of the New York Jets.

Speaking on the Pat McAfee Show, Rodgers finally got the point we were all waiting for: The Packers are ready to move on to Jordan Love, and now, so is he. He wants to be on the Jets next season and a trade will happen as soon as Green Bay and New York can work out the compensation.

Rodgers clarified that this isn’t decision day, as he shared his intent a few days ago. From his point of view, the team shifted their commitment to him, which he noticed following his darkness retreat. Once it was clear they were moving on to Love, he made it clear he will play for the Jets next season.

Aaron Rodgers confirms the Green Bay Packers want to move on to Jordan Love and that he wants to be a New York Jet next season.

Love was drafted in the first round in 2020 and has a wild ride to begin his career. With football activities limited during his first couple of seasons, it was difficult for him to get his feet under him and learn the ropes.

However, his growth has apparently accelerated over the last year, as he started turning the heads of teammates and coaching staff. That’s when Rodgers said he could first tell Green Bay was preparing to move on to Love. Rodgers went on to say Love is, “a great ******* player. He’s a great kid.” That matches what we’ve heard from Packers’ teammates over the past year.

Rodgers also said he didn’t provide New York with a wishlist of players. He talked to them about ex-teammates and gave them high reviews, but didn’t “demand” the Jets sign them.

This unofficially marks the beginning of a new era in Titletown, as Green Bay appears ready to turn the page to Love.
