Positions Packers should avoid in free agency: Offensive tackle

At first glance, offensive tackle might be a position the Packers should address in free agency. David Bakhtiari hasn’t fully recovered from his ACL tear and Elgton Jenkins wasn’t as successful at right tackle as he had been in the past. Yosh Nijman is also a restricted free agent.

Thankfully, the Packers have hit on several draft picks. Zach Tom stepped in beautifully at right tackle last season and looks to be the future of the position. They also have developmental projects in Caleb Jones and Rasheed Walker.

I fully expect Nijman to be retained, giving them a quality backup swing tackle, and for the Packers to address the position via the draft. If that scenario plays out, there’s no reason to bring in a veteran.
