Packers see tight end as offseason need

One of Green Bay’s most curious positions is tight end. It was underwhelmeing in 2022, as a legit receiving threat failed to emerge. Now, their top two tight ends–Robert Tonyan and Marcedes Lewis–are set to hit unrestricted free agency.

Gutekunst didn’t give any particular insight into whether either player will return. With Josiah Deguara as the only remaining tight end on the roster, he said, “Right now, we only have a couple of tight ends coming back from last year. So there’s some holes there. Those guys either have to step into those roles and fill them, or we’re going to have to look other places.”

There are several quality free agent tight ends on the market. That could be a good sign for the Packers if they want to address that position on the open market.
