The Green Bay Packers have a lot of work to do this offseason and must address several critical positions if they want to return to title contention in 2023.

The good news is they’ll have the entire offseason to re-tool. The bad news is they have limited financial resources to do so, and have several key free agents hitting the open market.

Following a disappointing 8-9 season, Green Bay has a lot of work to do. The first order of business is figuring out whether Aaron Rodgers will return and if he’ll play for the Packers next season. After that, they can map out the rest of their offseason plan and determine which direction they’ll want to go. Whatever path they choose, these are the three weakest positions on their roster that must be addressed in one way or another.

The Green Bay Packers have several holes to fill on their roster, but these are the three weakest positions they have heading into the offseason.

Wide Receiver

The Packers have a good base at this position, but need to add more talent to make it come to fruition. Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs and even Samori Toure could become regular contributors down the road. However, Allen Lazard and Randall Cobb are unrestricted free agents, creating a void of veteran contributors at wide receiver. The Packers could try to re-sign either player or look elsewhere in free agency and the draft to address this need.

Tight End

Like wide receiver, the Packers have two key veterans hitting free agency this offseason in Robert Tonyan and Marcedes Lewis. Unlike wide receiver, they don’t have a long-term plan in place or players they can count on in the future. That leaves them needing to address the position’s immediate and long-term future.

Safety

Safety has quickly become a mess for Green Bay. It wasn’t that long ago when Adrian Amos and Darnell Savage were a good combination in the backend of the secondary. That’s no longer the case. Both players are coming off the worst seasons of their careers and ranked in the bottom seven of safety grades, according to PFF. Savage has one year remaining on his deal and Amos is an unrestricted free agent.
