Young free agents Packers should pursue: Julian Love, Safety

The safety position quickly fell apart for the Packers. Adrian Amos and Darnell Savage once looked like one of the better duos in the NFL, but they are both coming off career-worst seasons. Amos is a free agent and Savage is entering the final year of his contract.

Several quality safeties are available in free agency, which is good news for the Packers. They’ll have their choice of a one-to-two-year stopgap or looking for a long-term solution at one of the spots.

If they choose the latter, Love could be their guy. He is a versatile safety who can hold down the backend of a defense. He can line up in the box, in the slot, out wide and as the free safety. Heck, he even plays special teams. He’s coming off the best season of his career and could be looking for a payday to reflect that.
