Packers on the hot seat: Darnell Savage Jr.

Savage’s drop from prominence has happened so quickly, he might not even be on the team next season. With Green Bay trying to determine how to handle the Aaron Rodgers’ situation, a popular theory is that they might attach Savage in a trade to rid themselves of the $7.9 million cap hit in 2023.

It was just two years ago when Savage’s arrow pointed straight up. He and fellow safety Adrian Amos finished the second half of the 2020 season on fire and were one of the best safety duos in the NFL. Savage was flying all over the field, making plays, and providing valuable support in the box.

dark. Next. 3 replacements if Packers' don't re-sign Lazard

Last year was the complete opposite. Savage looked like he didn’t want to be out there and the results spoke for themselves. His PFF grade of 47.5 represents a three-year drop and the lowest of his career. Oh, and it also ranked 87 out of 88 qualified safeties. Yuck.
