Packers on the hot seat: Rasul Douglas

Douglas wasn’t as spectacular in 2022 as he was the previous year, but he was still a solid cornerback. He can defend different types of receivers and move all over the field to allow others to play positions that suit them better. He also continued to get his hands on the rock despite the quarterback’s intentions to avoid it.

However, there was a slight dip in his play and his contract provides Green Bay with an easy out after this season. Douglas counts $7.76 million against the cap this season, which rises to $10.76 million in 2023. The Packers can save $9 million by cutting him next year if he doesn’t prove up to the task. They already have two cornerbacks locked into contracts–Eric Stokes and Jaire Alexander–and may need to free up cap space. It’s amazing how quickly the NFL can turn on someone.
