Packers on the hot seat: Josh Myers

Myers was anointed as the Packers’ starting center shortly after being selected in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft. He’s a great communicator with a very high football I.Q.–two traits that allowed him to pick up the offense quickly and immediately step into a full-time role.

However, he’s flown under the radar of criticism considering his lack of consistent play throughout his career. After battling injuries during his rookie campaign, he played all 17 games for the Packers last year. His PFF grade of 60.4 improved over Year 1, but he only ranked 26th among the 36 qualified centers.

His run-blocking could improve most, as he struggled to stick with defenders at all levels. He’ll be entering his third year in 2023 and Green Bay needs to see signs of improvement, or they’ll begin to look for a new starting center.
