Free agent replacements if Packers don’t re-sign Allen Lazard: Trent Sherfield

Sherfield is the best run-blocking wide receiver in this year’s free agent class. If that doesn’t get you excited, I don’t know what will. His PFF run-blocking grade of 78.1 ranked third among receivers who played in at least eight games in 2022.

He also turned in a career year as a pass-catcher, hauling in 30 receptions for 417 yards and two touchdowns. That may not seem like much, but it could signify things to come.

Sherfield can line up in the slot or on the outside, giving his next team flexibility to line him up all over the field. That is an attractive piece to his value in Green Bay, as LaFleur wouldn’t be pigeonholed into playing him at one position. He’s another candidate for a very small contract.
