3 free agent replacements if Packers don’t re-sign Allen Lazard
It’s a very real possibility the Green Bay Packers will lose Allen Lazard in free agency this offseason, preempting questions about his replacement.
Lazard is looking for a big payday and could command a multi-year deal around the $11 million per year range. That should be outside Green Bay’s willingness to pay him. Lazard is a nice receiver, but for someone whose best attribute is his run-blocking, the Packers should prioritize other needs.
Speaking of run blocking, that’s a skill I’m looking for in his replacement. All three guys ranked high on PFF’s run-blocking grades last year and can help in that department. Two of them are also proven receivers, while a third has the potential to be a contributor again.
Without further ado, here are three potential free agent replacements if the Packers don’t re-sign Lazard.
If the Green Bay Packers decide to move on from wide receiver Allen Lazard and don’t re-sign him, here are three free agent replacements.
Free agent replacements if Packers don’t re-sign Allen Lazard: Zach Pascal
Pascal spent the first four years of his career with the Indianapolis Colts, posting solid campaigns in 2019 and 2020 when he accumulated at least 41 receptions, 607 receiving yards, and five touchdowns each season. Unfortunately, he’s compiled back-to-back down seasons, with the most recent one coming with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Still, Pascal could be a nice veteran and cheap addition to the Packers’ receiving corps. He’s only 28-years-old and could rediscover his early career success. Furthermore, his PFF run-blocking grade of 76.7 ranked 12th in the NFL among all wide receivers last year. He’s a buy-low candidate that would cost a minimal contract.
