With the Super Bowl in our rearview mirror, we can officially focus on the Green Bay Packers’ 2023 offseason.

Green Bay already began making critical decisions when they agreed to rework Aaron Jones’ contract, pushing money into the future and saving on the cap for 2023. There will likely be similar moves to come, as they will work to restructure existing players so they can both keep talent and cut costs for next year.

The offseason will be action-packed with events such as free agency, the draft, and the beginning of offseason workouts. Here are all the critical dates you should know heading into the NFL’s offseason.

Here are all of the important dates to know for the Green Bay Packers 2023 offseason, including the start of free agency, the draft and more.

  • February 21-March 7: Franchise/Transition player designation period
  • February 28-March 6: NFL Scouting Combine
  • March 13-15: Legal tampering period
  • March 15: Start of Free Agency period
  • March 15th: Start of new NFL league year
  • March 26-29: NFL League Meetings
  • April 17: Packers can begin offseason workouts
  • April 27-29: 2023 NFL Draft
  • May 1: Fifth-year option deadline
  • May 5-8 or May 12-15: Rookie minicamp
  • May 22-24: Spring League Meetings

The Packers will really kick off the festivities on March 13th when they and other teams can begin negotiating with free agents (I doubt they’ll franchise tag someone this year). Any contracts that are agreed to during that period become official on March 15th.

The NFL Draft from April 27-29 will be another important event. As of now, Green Bay holds the 15th overall selection.

Of course, they’ll have plenty of decisions to make before any of those dates occur. Green Bay has to be in legal standing with the salary cap by March 15th, which means they’ll be cuts and/or contract re-structures before then.

There’s also the minor issue about what to do with Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers first must decide if he’s going to play football next year. After that decision is made, the Packers will have to figure out if they will keep him or trade him. Buckle up! This is going to be a busy offseason!
