As Aaron Rodgers goes through his process this offseason (entering the darkness), the Green Bay Packers patiently make plans with and without him. Each track is dependent on whether he retires or returns. And if he returns, whether Green Bay will trade him or keep him.

The trade rumors have heated up hotter than ever before this offseason, as both the Packers and Rodgers have acknowledged they are open to going their separate ways. That hasn’t always been the case, as Rodgers used to speak about wanting to avoid the Brett Favre cycle and play his entire career with the Packers.

Washington hasn’t gotten a lot of attention, but is a dark horse candidate. They went 8-8-1 last year despite experiencing a quarterback shuffle and inconsistent play at the position. Rodgers could stabilize the spot and team up with underrated wide receiver Terry McLaurin. The Commanders hold the 16th pick in this year’s draft as a starting point for any trade conversation.
