Realistic restructure candidates for Packers: David Bakhtiari

A once great left tackle, David Bakhtiari has to battle his body every week just to play in the game. He found a groove toward the end of the season and managed his injuries better. Unfortunately, it appears he will struggle with it for the rest of his career.

When he’s on the field, he’s as dominant as any tackle in the NFL. He didn’t allow a sack all season and only gave up 10 total pressures in 11 games.

His cap hit spikes to $29 million this season, in line with franchise quarterbacks, and will increase again next season. The time to cut him is now, but that still requires them to eat $23 million. A more likely path is a restructure which will drop his cap hit to around $21 million.

Amount Saved: $7.52 million
