Realistic restructure candidates for Packers: Preston Smith

We’re beginning to get into the major savings now.

Preston Smith was solid for Green Bay and is a nice complimentary outside linebacker. However, he struggled when the offense focused more of their attention on him following Rashan Gary’s injury. In other words, he is solid if not spectacular.

The Packers lack other options at outside linebacker which would make it very difficult for them to move on from Smith entirely. His current cap hit of $13 million is also a difficult pill to swallow (and it will only rise in the coming years). A restructure would nearly cut that cap hit in half for 2023.

Amount Saved: $6.25 million
