The Green Bay Packers will have their second-highest pick since the 2009 Draft, holding the 15th overall selection in the 2023 NFL Draft.

This comes following a disappointing 2022 campaign in which they finished with an 8-9 record, missing the playoffs thanks to a loss to the Detroit Lions in the last game of the season. They finished the season with the same record as the New England Patriots, but the Patriots got the 14th overall selection due to an easier strength of schedule. The two teams will alternate positions after the first round.

The last time Green Bay picked in the first half of the first round, they selected Rashan Gary with the 12th overall selection in 2019.

The Green Bay Packers will have eight selections in the 2023 NFL Draft, possibly earning two additional compensatory picks.

Overall, they have eight draft picks, possibly adding two compensatory ones. Here’s the breakdown of the current picks they hold:

  • Round 1, 15th overall
  • Round 2, 45th overall
  • Round 3, 78th overall
  • Round 4, 113th overall
  • Round 5, 146th overall
  • Round 7, 201st overall
  • Round 7, 210th overall
  • Round 7, 216th overall

Green Bay added a seventh-rounder when they traded Cole Van Lanen to the Jacksonville Jaguars. They also made a deal with the Los Angeles Rams in 2021 that saw Green Bay give them this year’s sixth-rounder in exchange for Corey Ojorquez and a 2023 seventh-round pick. Don’t sleep on those seventh-rounders, as Gutekunst has found some decent players in recent years.

Over The Cap also projects the Packers to receive two compensatory picks, bringing their total to 10.

They predict Green Bay will receive a fifth-round selection for their loss of Marquez Valdes-Scantling in free agency. Another seventh-rounder might also be coming their way for losing Oren Burks to the San Francisco 49ers.

Gutekunst has proven he’s not afraid to make trades at any point in the draft; having additional ammo will only fuel him in that regard.
