The Green Bay Packers and general manager Brian Gutekunst have a lot of work this offseason. Their first decision might be whether to blow the team up and rebuild or try to re-tool on the fly.

The Packers aren’t short on needs. Not only do they have several key decisions about veterans– free agents and players under contract–but they have to decide an overall direction for their team. Players with uncertain futures include Aaron Rodgers, Aaron Jones, Allen Lazard, Robert Tonyan, Marcedes Lewis, Adrian Amos, Darnell Savage, and more.

This article assumes the status quo: Free agents won’t return and players currently under contract will.

The Green Bay Packers will have several needs to address this offseason, but these five should jump to the top of their list.

Packers’ Biggest Needs: Edge Rusher

One of the tertiary needs Green Bay has is on the edge. They have Rashan Gary and Preston Smith under contract for 2023, but this lands at no. 5 on the list due to its importance. Gary will likely miss some time to begin the season. Smith is solid, if unspectacular. Rooke JJ Enagbare played well last year, but more depth is needed.

Getting after the quarterback in a timely fashion can wreak havoc on opponents. Green Bay wasn’t good enough last year and could use the room for improvement.
