Grading Milwaukee Bucks players at season’s halfway point
Grading Bucks’ Wings:
Grayson Allen:
Allen draws the close eye of Bucks’ fans and everything he does is under the microscope. He’s attacking the rim more often this year as a way to diversify his offensive game; he’s had mixed results. His 38.7 three-point percentage is somehow the lowest since his rookie season. On defense, he tries hard and works, but doesn’t possess the skills or athleticism to be a capable defender. He busts the myth that you only have to work hard to be good on defense.
Grade: C+
Pat Connaughton:
Connaughton missed the first 15 games of the season and is still trying to find his groove. His shooting percentages across the board are the lowest since he signed with Milwaukee, although he’s beginning to show life. He brings little to no playmaking. He’s capable, if not unspectacular on defense.
Grade: C-
Marjon Beauchamp:
Beauchamp has been the best surprise. I thought he needed a year of seasoning before being ready to contribute, but he’s quickly proven me wrong. He seems to contribute something positive every night. The hype train is still too hyped for me: He needs work on all aspects of his games, but there are signs of life!
Grade: B
Jordan Nwora:
It’s time for the Bucks to move on from Nwora. He’s supposed to be a shot-creator and sparkplug off the bench, but he forces the issue too much. His awareness with the ball in his hands is low and it causes on-court issues with his teammates. His defense is bad as well.
Grade: D
Wesley Matthews:
We rarely see Matthews, as he’s only appeared in 26 games. He’s played hard in those appearances and always grinds on defense. He’s a half-step slower than last year and doesn’t have the ideal size to guard the bigger wings Milwaukee will see in the postseason. He’s also shooting a career-low from behind the arc.
Grade: C-
