All Christian Watson does is score touchdowns. At least recently. The Green Bay Packers’ rookie has been a terror over his last four games, racking up eight total touchdowns on just 17 touches.

This is the playmaking Green Bay was hoping to get when they moved up to select him in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

Watson’s elite speed has been on display, as he’s burned defender after defender. However, he’s also shown off improved hands and an ability to create separation on his routes. After a slow start to his season, he’s coming along very nicely.

Let’s check in on some other pleasant surprises for the Packers heading into their bye week.

These three players have been the most surprising on the Green Bay Packers’ roster heading into their much-needed Week 14 bye.

Zach Tom

Tom had a wonderful training camp and preseason so maybe it shouldn’t be a surprise that he’s continued to play well when the games matter. However, we see a lot of training camp darlings that can never turn it on in the regular season.

He isn’t a regular starter on the offensive line, but he’s played incredibly well in spot starts and other duties. It’s likely only a matter of time until he becomes a full-time player. Tom most recently filled in for David Bakhtiari at left tackle, the position he’s most played this season. He’s also filled in at left guard and right guard, showing off his versatility. He’ll likely be needed as the season wears on and Bakhtiari continues to battle injury.

Rudy Ford

With Darnell Savage and Adrian Amos having the worst years of their career, Rudy Ford’s emergence has been much needed. Ford has started the last two games at safety–one when Savage was healthy and one when he wasn’t–and is playing very well. He flies in and can lay the boom on an unsuspecting ball carrier. If this continues, he’ll also earn a chance to compete for a starting safety spot next season.
