The Green Bay Packers won double-digit games in each of Matt LaFleur’s first three seasons. Now, they might lose double-digit games

The franchise is at risk of losing double-digit games for the first time since Aaron Rodgers took over as the starting quarterback in 2008. In fact, 2008 marks one of only two times in the last 30 years that Green Bay has lost at least 10 games (the other came back in 2005 when they went 4-12). This season could mark the third.

Green Bay had a slight sense of optimism heading into last Thursday’s matchup against the Tennessee Titans. They had just beaten the Dallas Cowboys the week before, doubled their playoff odds and were hoping to make another magical playoff run led by Rodgers.

Unfortunately, the Titans had other plans, as Green Bay sunk back into their season-long woes. The Packers could not stop the mighty Ryan Tannehill, as the defense continued to play soft coverage after soft coverage. The offense couldn’t muster anything more than 17 points, as the team fell to 4-7 on the season.

With little hope of turning around their season, suffering double-digit losses is the most likely outcome for the Green Bay Packers.

The schedule doesn’t get any easier for Green Bay. They play the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday Night Football this week. That game could get ugly quickly in front of a national television audience. The Eagles lead the NFL at 9-1.

The Packers’ next game comes at Chicago when they take on the Bears. This is one of three remaining divisional games, but shouldn’t be glossed over. Justin Fields has been making more plays than ever with his feet and is a dangerous weapon this defense will have to figure out. Fortunately, Barry loves to play zone defense which will keep all eyes on the quarterback.

Following a bye week, Green Bay hosts the Los Angeles Rams. The Rams are having a similar season to Green Bay and are on the outside looking in of the playoff race.

The Packers then play the Miami Dolphins on Christmas Day. Miami sports one of the best one-two punches at wide receiver with Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. Their speed and ability to get vertical will test the Packers’ secondary.

Their next game is against the Minnesota Vikings. Minnesota beat them in Week 1 and have been playing very good football (minus their embarrassing loss to the Cowboys this week). The Vikings could very well be jockeying for the top playoff spot and will likely have a lot on the line.

Green Bay’s final game comes against Detroit. Before we overlook this one, the Lions already beat the Packers this season AND have a better record at the moment.

For the optimistic’s sake, let’s say Green Bay beats Chicago, Los Angeles and Detroit since they are likely to be favored in all three games. That still only gives them seven victories on the season to go along with 10 losses. Unless the unexpected happens, Green Bay is looking at a double-digit losing season for the first time in a decade and a half.
